The Charles' Weekly

Ask.   The fashion, culture, and other musings of our beloved Holy City

I used to like to think of the Pit Stop Deli as my own little secret…

but now it seems like the word is getting out.  Charleston Scene and the Charleston City Paper have both written glowing reviews, recently naming it “the best place in Charleston you’ve never heard of.”

A buddy and I ran in to the Pit Stop last winter to escape a rain storm.  Neither of us had seen it there before; turns out it had just opened in Oct. 2010.  We both got hot sandwiches, mine with deli chicken and avocado… it was amazing.

I’ve been back many times since then, each time bringing someone new to spread the word.  You just can’t beat the prices here.  A huge sandwich with one of their awesome sides (I love the caprese, but they’re all great) will cost you around $7, and one of their insanely good breakfast-all-day sandwiches is around $3.50.  For our veggie head friends, they make some really good all veggie wraps, sandwiches, and salads.

So try this place out next time, it’s just right off King Street down Society Street.  I know personally that anytime I walk by Society I’m distracted looking in the windows at Dumas, but I’m glad I ended up down the street when the rain started coming down that day.  This is easily one of my favorite places for lunch in Charleston.
